Being in the Multimedia Department has changed my life significantly. I experienced a huge transformation between graduating from High School in 2011 and graduating from Ohlone College in 2014. In High School, I barely new anyone with the same interests, besides the small generalization of art. There weren’t enough classes or hours in the day to keep learning or to ask for one-on-one assistance from a teacher to learn more about a subject in Multimedia, such as Photoshop or 3D Animation. When I came to Ohlone College, I made many new friends, but not just any type of friend, friends who are classmates with the same interests and major. By having the opportunity of being in a Multimedia classroom with other students with the same interests, regardless of their age, I had a chance to explore my options in life. I became more interested in learning what each Multimedia class offered, so I ended up taking as many as I could! I would stay after class, ask as many questions as I could, just to learn as much as I could. I also threw myself into the program, making the Multimedia department my second family.

What I have planned for the future is to attend San Jose State University where I will continue, broaden and share my experience and studies in the Multimedia fields. In fact, San Jose State University has their own Multimedia/Animation department and family there as well, and I can’t wait to join it, although I am sure to miss what I’ve had at Ohlone College.

After leaving behind a career that was almost everything to me I found my holy grail in the Multimedia Department at Ohlone. Ohlone has not only allowed me to develop several new talents, it has made me feel good about myself and my future. Ohlone has given me hope and has prepared me to go out there and face the world with confidence!

I am thankful to have found such a great community in the Multimedia Department at Ohlone College. I left my country, my family and my home three years ago to pursue a dream of working in the computer gaming industry. I wanted to make my parents proud so they would see their baby girl become their greatest accomplishment.
At Ohlone College, I found a second family with the best professors that I will ever have, in a place I share with the hardest working, passionate students and friends I could imagine.
The multimedia department gave me more than what i needed to be able to transfer to a great university like Cogswell College, where i am planning to earn my Game Design Artist degree and keep on rocking and conquering the world, just like i promise my parents at my high school graduation.
Even after transferring to Cogswell, I still find that I cannot leave the Ohlone community. I just love everyone here. Alongside my studies at Cogswell, I help manage the Ohlone Esport gaming club and I also assist with the Intro to Multimedia class. I just can’t get enough of the people here.
I thank David Folker, Alejandro Jauco for being such awesome professors, and I especially offer a bazillion thanks to my favorite professor and boss: Isabel Reichert! Thank you for letting me be part of this department by letting me help others and share the knowledge that you imparted on all of us.
Thanks to my parents Ronald and Rebecca Henriquez. Thanks for letting your last bird leave the nest. (Gracias por dejar ir a su ultimo pajarito del nido. Los amo padres)

At Ohlone I’ve been given opportunities to improve on and practice my abilities in Multimedia, with the help of the faculty and fellow classmates. I’m currently attending San Jose State University in pursuit of my BFA in Graphic Design and interning at a startup app in San Francisco.
